Must-Watch Games at USQ Cup 2025

By: Naresh Edala, Jack Levy, Christian Barnes & Grace Meyer

As the excitement builds for the US Quadball Cup 2025, fans in person and online are ready to gather and witness fierce competition and incredible athleticism. Our first day promises a lineup of amazing games across the four divisions, but we’ve gathered a list of some of the most exciting games we’re hoping to see. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a newcomer to quadball, here’s the outline of key matchups to keep an eye on!

  • Home Team Showdowns: JMU, DCQC, and UVA on Pitch 1 (8:00 am, 9:10 am, and 10:20 am)

Kick off day one with some hometown pride by supporting local teams! Starting at 8:00 am, pitch 1 will have back-to-back games featuring James Madison University, the District of Columbia Quadball Club, and the University of Virginia. Start the day with the matches: JMU vs the University of Michigan at 8:00 am, DCQC vs Texas Copperheads at 9:10 am, and UVA vs Mizzou at 10:20 am.

  • Carolina Reapers vs Bosnyan Bearsharks on Pitch 3 (9:10 am)

This is not the first time we’ve seen this match-up. At last year's USQ Cup, Reapers suffered a heart-wrenching loss, having come within a single goal of victory. This year, the Reapers are ready to start their day with revenge against the Northeast-based Bosnynan Bearsharks. This match will bring intensity as both teams fight for an early lead.

  • Lost Boys vs WAR (11:30 am, Pitch 7)

LA-based Lost Boys face off against their hopeful East Coast rivals, the Warriors, for the third year in a row at USQ Cup. The Lost Boys are eager to prove themselves among the elite in the Club Competitive Division, but they have already been dealt two crushing defeats by Warriors earlier this year at Heroes vs Villains VI, as well as a devastating loss during last year's USQ Cup bracket play. Will history repeat itself, or can the Lost Boys prove their mettle?

  • SHSU vs Harvard (12:40 PM, Pitch 3)

Returning to pitch 3, we will see a repeat from bracket play on USQ Cup 23 and 24, both won by Harvard. The question looms: Will Sam Houston State be able to defeat the Crimson? Or will Harvard continue their dominance?

  • Chaos vs Lost Boys (1:50 PM, Pitch 2)

Prepare for a thrilling rematch between Lost Boys and Chaos Quadball. Their previous match-up at Heroes vs Villains IV earlier this year proved to be a close game, with Lost Boys able to claim victory. However, Chaos is coming to USQ Cup 2025 with a more robust lineup and valuable game experience. Expect an exciting match as the two teams vie for better bracket placements.

  • Texas State vs Boston University (3:00 PM, Pitch 7)

These two teams with national aspirations face off against each other in this afternoon's match. Expect the dodgeball game to be especially fierce. With control, both of these teams’ chasers can execute, so the game will come down to the beater duels right down the middle of pitch 7.

  • Skyline vs Chicago United (4:10 PM, Pitch 6)

After a crushing defeat at the hands of Skyline’s A Program (The Warriors) at last year’s USQ Cup 2025, Chicago United is looking to take down the top seed of their pool to clench a spot in the upper bracket of the Club Open Division. Skyline is working with a smaller roster, but includes Warriors' previous top players such as Eric Pagoada, so this match-up should bring the heat

  • UVA vs Texas State (5:20 PM, Pitch 1)

Get ready for an exhilarating matchup between UVA and Texas State. On one side, we have the Garland Qualifier champion, Texas State, ranked as the 2nd overall college team. On the other hand, UVA, the Howard County Qualifier champion, ranked 4th overall in college, and our Virginia hometown heroes.

  • Warriors vs CTQ (6:30 pm, Pitch 1)

In our second-to-last round of the day, we’re going to see a dramatic grudge match. 14 members of the New York Titans (2024 MLQ Benepe Cup Champions) are represented across both rosters, and altogether, this match will have 20 current or former members of the Team USA program! This is expected to be one of the most competitive and close club games of the season, and will likely decide the top 1 and 2 seeds going into Day 2.

  • Bay Area Breakers vs  DCQC (7:30 pm, Pitch 2)

Throughout this year, the CA-based Bay Area Breakers have shocked teams all season with their ferocity and tenacity, while DCQC fell just short of winning an automatic bid at Howard County. With seeding in the Day 2 bracket on the line, this pot-2 and pot-3 matchup should be a nail-biter to round out the day.

The first day of USQ Cup 2025 is set to be full of upsets, storylines, and unforgettable moments on the pitch - Let the games begin!
